Zimbabwe: Tsvangirai's Matabeleland Star Rallies Flop, MDC-T leader Mr Morgan Tsvangirai's rallies in Matabeleland North continued flopping after less than 200 people turned up for his star rally at Nkayi business centre yesterday. A visibly shaken Tsvangirai tried to blame the country's security sector for the poor attendance. He accused the security sector of siding with Zanu-PF ahead of the harmonised elections slated for July 31.
Addressing the small crowd yesterday,

The poorly attended Nkayi rally comes barely two days after the MDC-T leader was snubbed by the business community in Binga. On Thursday and Friday Mr Tsvangirai addressed two poorly attended rallies in Bubi and Sipepa area in Tsholotsho.

Two Souls, who was accompanied by his deputy Ms Thokozani Khupe and the party's chairperson for women's assembly Mrs Theresa Makone, said his party wanted to create more than 1 million jobs for the youths through drip irrigation. He said through drip irrigation,
regional and international platforms where they showcase their talent., the country could produce enough and create employment. "MDC is going to roll out one drip irrigation scheme in every ward and people will be employed in those projects," he said. Mr Tsvangirai also bragged to the villagers present that he and his deputy Ms Khupe had already established drip irrigation schemes at their homesteads and they were producing more than 20 tonnes of maize on two hectares. "Kumusha kwangu uko ndakaisa drip irrigation and I had 20 tonnes pa 2 hectares. "Ndakabvisa chibage ndikaisa onions and I am making three crops per year," he said.
Mr Tsvangirai claimed that during the Sadc Summit in Maputo,
Samantha Mathis, the regional bloc said reforms that are being agitated for by his party should be implemented before elections. He said MDC-T was ready for elections as long as the so-called reforms demanded by his party are implemented.
